Doors Open Toronto
I know I’ve been a bad blogger lately… I’m sorry!!! In an effort to catch up I’ll do a few new postings over the next couple weeks.
Here are some of the photos I took waaaay back in May during the Doors Open event in Toronto. (On that note, wow summer is going by fast! Don’t know about you, but it’s been pretty rainy and cloudy here most of the summer. Here’s hoping August picks up…)
The Adirondacks
This past long weekend (Victoria Day in Canada) my husband and I went to the Adirondacks to go hiking. We did the same last year with a couple of friends and had a blast hiking and hanging out. It seemed like a nice tradition so we decided to try and do it each May long weekend. This year was a little tricky… hubby was in the Ukraine on business for the week beforehand, getting in on the Friday night, and I was trying to get over a back injury. But we pushed through and went ahead with the weekend.
The weather could have been better, and I was limited by my back, but we got out and got away from things. We stayed at a nice little B&B called Keene Valley Lodge. They had a great fireplace that was perfect for relaxing in front of with a bottle of wine… A perfect way to spend a rainy evening. Overall, it was nice to be back and I think it’s safe to say we’ll try to go each year that we can.
And of course I took some pictures of our time there… Here’s a little piece of the Adirondacks High Peaks region :)

In honour of today’s weather…
I’m not sure what the weather is like where you are, but right now I’m looking out the window and watching snow fall in huge fluffy flakes. There is always a snow fall in April, sometimes even in May. But even though it’s not surprising, it sure is crappy!
Yesterday the husband and I went for a walk before sunset and I took some pictures of the woods and the emerging spring. Since it no longer looks like spring out today, I thought I’d post some of my favourite shots from yesterday, just to keep your hopes up :P
Enjoy!

Email?
Hi everyone!
If you sent me an email in the last few days and I haven’t gotten back to you, please email me again. When I switched over my domain name on Tuesday it messed with my email too, so I haven’t received anything in my inbox since then. This also applies to any contact forms that were filled out.
Don’t worry, I’m not ignoring you! Please try again, I’ve fixed it all up :)
Karrie.
Welcome Welcome Welcome :D

Please update your bookmarks and feeds… my previous wordpress blog will no longer be updated.
My portfolio is now available here as well. If you would like to see it, please click on the Pages link above and choose a gallery. If you find any bugs, please let me know! There is a contact form under “Pages”, or you can email me.
And in addition to my new beautiful site, I have a sneak peek of Mike & Juveria’s wedding…

More to come :)
Planning a Wedding
A month before my 23rd birthday, my husband and I finally tied the knot. I say finally because we had been dating since I was 16 and he was 17. I know some people cannot imagine making such a huge life commitment at such a young age, but given our history together, there was never any doubt between my husband and I, and between our families, that we would spend the rest of our lives together. And here we are, approaching 4 years, and just past our 10th year together :)
At the time, I was finishing my last year of university while planning a wedding. Being only 22, I didn’t have any experienced friends I could turn to for advice. I lived a little ways away from all of my family, and without a car, it wasn’t easy to get together with my mom. Ultimately, I planned our wedding entirely by myself. Thankfully there was a seemingly infinite number of resources on the web that really helped me along. They provided the sage advice I didn’t otherwise have access to. My biggest support network: The Knot, which is still thriving and still helping many many brides across North America.
One thing that has come along since my planning days is Etsy. I know I’ve posted about Etsy before and how great I think they are (I have a store over there you should check out!)… Well one thing they’re unbelievably wonderful for, is getting handmade details for your wedding day. I wanted to highlight for you some of the things I’ve seen during my browsing. Some of the stuff is so cute it almost makes me want to plan another wedding… almost!
Click any of the photos below to go to the seller’s shop… What’s your favourite online find?
Love these adorable cake/cupcake toppers (from Goose Grease):
Beautiful letterpress invites with pressed flowers (from Eden Invitations):
Gorgeous diamond stacking ring (from Blanca Monrós Gómez : fine jewelry):
A little ring bearer dish (from Paloma’s Nest):
You can even find a wedding gown.. from simple and chic (Abstract Pretty), to haute couture (Joan Shum Brides)!
So go check out Etsy for all your wedding needs… just make sure you give yourself lots of time ;)
Practice Makes Perfect
Since I have a lot of time on my hands these days, what with being laid off from my day job, I figured I’d hone my skills a bit and practice my technique. Capturing the details of a wedding are so important. The bride (and her support staff) put so much effort into the little things, and it really brings the whole day together. Since my husband doesn’t really wear his wedding ring (shame on him! :P) I decided to take some fun ring shots around the house.

And if you like looking at fun ring pics, you really should check out Rocktographers…
OK, that’s all for now… Still working on getting the beautiful new site up and running! Soon!!!!!!
New Business Cards
I received my Moo business cards last week and couldn’t be happier! They are works of art. Beautifully printed, perfect weight. I really can’t say enough about them. They make me very happy :)
Now all I need is a bunch of people to give them to. Spread the word… I have business cards!!! :P
(PS – exciting news coming about my website..!!)
A bit of a makeover
I have recently found myself semi-constrained to the house, healing from getting my wisdom tooth extraction. So I figured what better way to pass the time than to update my site!
As you can see, I’ve brightened things up a bit. Not sure if I’m 100% happy with it quite yet, so you might see some more changes at some point. Let me know if you have any input. I welcome suggestions :)
I’ve also added an “About” tab at the top if you wish to know a little bit more about me. It’s mostly rambling and random trivia about yours truly, but I think it’s important that you have a place to get to know, if you wish…
EDIT: OK, I changed it AGAIN… I didn’t like the light background of the blog. It looked to fluffy. So it’s still different, but not as different :P
Well on that note, I hope you enjoy the changes. And to keep you coming back for more, after all what’s a photo blog without at least a photo in each entry, here’s a random picture from one of my winter photo outings recently…

Movin’ On Up
Well I’m moving on up in the world… slowly! You can now access this website by going to betweenthelinesphoto.com.
That’s right, I shelled out the big bucks and got me my own domain address :) Exciting times around here at {between the lines}. Next step, personalized email account?

Come one, come all…
I just opened up a new shop on Etsy.com and I’m super excited about it! I am working on getting more and more listings up, but have about 6 so far.
Etsy is such a great website for purchasing handmade, one-of-a-kind items. You can also find unique vintage items and even supplies for your own crafts. It’s also a great place for inspiration for your own hobbies.
But I warn you, if you’ve never visited the site, prepare to spend hours there :D
Swing by and check me out: betweenthelinesphoto.etsy.com
Family Portraits
Christmas time is a great time for family portraits since you’re most likely to get everyone together (and hopefully they’ll all be smiling!). This togetherness is especially true in my family. There’s a lot of us, on both my mom’s side and my dad’s side, and we really only get together for holidays and some special occasions. Just yesterday my parents had a get-together and asked that we do some nice portraits of the family. Turns out it’s difficult to photograph your family; they like to talk back :P
Anyways, here are some of the shots I got. Hopefully the family will enjoy them…!

Wishing a wonderful holiday (or un-holiday) season, to you and yours.
I didn’t win, but…
I entered a contest in my local camera club. I didn’t win anything, but I’m pretty happy with my pictures anyways. They are being displayed at the Oakville Townhall. If you’re in the area, stop by to check them out. There’s 80 entries in total being display.
Now that they’re being displayed, I figured it was safe to post them online.
Let me know if you have any advice for me if there’s a next time :)

Welcome
Hi Everyone!
Welcome to my space. As you can see, things are in the works for now. I’m just getting everything up and running, so bear with me. I plan on uploading some pictures and fun stuff as soon as I can. In the meantime, here’s a bit about me:
My name is Karrie and I’m 26. I’ve lived all over the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and am currently based out of Oakville, Ontario. I love love love photography and have fairly recently began assisting a wonderful wedding photographer named Emma Smallbone. Check out her site, www.barebonephoto.com.
When the offer came in to assist Emma at some of her weddings I was excited but somewhat hesitant. I had been to many weddings, but I wasn’t 100% sure I could handle being a wedding photographer. It’s a lot of stress to capture such an important day. However, all it took was one :) I was Immediately hooked!
There is an absolute joy in witnessing and photographing a couples’ pure love. And what better day to witness this than their wedding day? It’s uplifting and warms my heart to see two people genuinely in love and sharing that with their families and friends. I love photographing beautiful things, and there are few things more beautiful than that!
Right now I’m working on building up my portfolio and adding images whenever I can. I did an engagement session of two close friends a couple weeks ago and hope to get some of their photos up soon. Check back for updates. Until then, feel free to check out my personal flickr account www.flickr.com/photos/karriej and my “professional” flickr account www.flickr.com/photos/kj-photo for examples of my work.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me at karrie.jastrzebska at gmail [dot] com.
All the best to you,
Karrie.
